Objective: To empower rural women through skill-based training in hand embroidery under NABARD’s Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP). The initiative aimed to enable women to become financially independent by learning traditional embroidery techniques and turning them into income-generating activities.
Program Highlights:
A 15-day intensive training was conducted by Shreel Foundation, focusing on practical embroidery skills.
Women were trained to create high-quality handmade products such as embroidered dupattas, pillowcases, tablecloths, and handkerchiefs.
Post-training, the women began selling their products in the local market, receiving an encouraging response from customers.
Impact & Acknowledgement: The success of the program was recognized by Mr. Shubhendu Behera (DDM, NABARD, Dumka), who appreciated Shreel Foundation’s efforts. Within days of completion, several trainees started earning from the sale of their embroidered items, marking the beginning of home-based micro-enterprises.
These products received positive feedback for their quality and creativity, helping the women build confidence and a stable income source.
