(An initiative by Shreel Foundation)
Shreel Foundation has launched the “Ghar Ka Bagicha “Kitchen Garden” – Har Ghar Hara Bhara Angan initiative in Kalyanpur Basti, Deoghar district. Under this campaign, 13 families have already been connected and empowered to cultivate their own nutritious food at home.
Date: 27.08.2025
What makes this project unique?
✔ Household wastewater such as bathing water, kitchen water, and drainage outflow—usually wasted—is now being utilized productively.
✔ A small garden is created alongside the water drainage route, ensuring a natural and continuous water flow to the plants.
✔ Nutritious vegetables including chili, coriander, brinjal, radish, tomato, and spinach are being cultivated in these gardens.
Benefits for the community
🌿 Wastewater is being reused in a sustainable and beneficial way.
🌿 Families now enjoy fresh, chemical-free organic vegetables right at their doorstep.
🌿 Reduced dependency on buying vegetables from the market.
🌿 Nutritious produce is available in the courtyard without extra cost or effort.
🌿 This initiative is enhancing both health and awareness in rural households.
Beyond seeds – Building awareness
The Shreel Foundation team has gone beyond simply distributing seeds and plants. The community is also being trained in kitchen gardening techniques and educated on the importance of water conservation.
Our Vision
The goal of the Ghar Ka Bagicha “Kitchen Garden” – Har Ghar Hara Bhara Angan initiative is simple yet powerful:
To transform every courtyard into a green space that contributes to nutrition, health, and environmental sustainability.
📌 Shreel Foundation will continue to expand this movement across rural areas, ensuring that more families benefit from the practice of sustainable kitchen gardening.
